Member Biographies CMS

Porting an existing system from an old ASP Classic VBScript codebase to an existing staff portal intended to serve as a centralized content management system for organizational assets.  The new system still had to allow for member submissions to be completed on the old website, while all staff review and publication functionality moved to the new CMS.

Requirements:

  • allow revisions to existing published content by member contributors without publishing those edits until review and approval
  • send notifications to pertinent staff when new submissions are received
  • allow the biography questionnaire to be dynamically populated and updated as needed with new questions, while preserving any previously published answers unless and until a revision is submitted for a biography

Moving the editor to the new codebase and UI allowed for some key improvements as well:

  • new functionality that allowed staff members to create biographies on members’ behalf
  • image editing on screen for multiple size formats required across the website
  • private previews on the target website
  • the ability to reassign a biography to a new member (during personnel changes)
